I think this week was the busiest week I've had in Werdau so far which is sick (awesome). We were finally able to meet with Patrick last week and we had a really good lesson and we are meeting with him again today! Adam is still just going full steam ahead and we have finished teaching him all the lessons and he had his baptismal interview yesterday. He is super ready and we are super excited. He was invited to eat with some members yesterday while he was waiting for his interview and he fits in really well into the ward and already has lots of friends which is awesome. Also our best member friend Danny is going to baptize Adam -- it's funny cause they are both really short. Like 5 foot for both of them, and so they bonded super quick and it's dope.
We had 4 appointments on Tuesday which was awesome -- it was challenge to get to all of them on time, and we were only a few minutes late, but it worked out :). The rest of the week was also super busy and I want to tell a cool little story.
So Thursday was Christihimmelfahrt, or the holiday when Jesus went back up into Heaven after his Resurrection and time with his apostles. In Germany it's a really big holiday and everyone has off work and school. Buuutt due to mainstream culture, Christihimmelfahrt has become known as Männertag, aka Men-Day... It is exactly like it sounds like. It is basically an excuse for everyone to just get together, drink all day, and do stupid stuff. And we got the special privilege of street contacting pretty much all day on Thursday! Sooo, there were quite a few times where people just yelled at us (mostly curse words that I don't really know the meaning of in German so that's at least a plus), and a few people invited us to drink with them or rather random stuff.
But anyway, we were walking to this apartment -- this guy said he was interested and gave us his address and so we were going to go by and set up an appointment, but it was kinda across town and we had to walk across a bridge. There were 2 options, either a bridge right next to a park where there was a ton of partying going on oorrr a quieter bridge down a little further. We took the quieter bridge, but as we were walking across this group of men by the river started yelling at us (in English this time) and it was a lot of bad stuff. We responded once and gave a thumbs up as the continued to swear at us. As we get closer to the apartment and there is like no one on the street -- cause everyone was downtown partying. Then a guy walks around the corner and we start talking to him and he is super interested and we made out an appointment! The guy at the apartment wasn't there, but we met this super cool guy. But then we had to walk back. And we tried to look for any other way to get across, but we had to choose one of the bridges. So we took the same one. As soon as the guys saw us they started yelling and screaming again, and this time we completely ignored them, but then they are started whistling super loud to get our attention and then they flippin started throwing rocks/and or beer bottles at us from the other side of the river. Luckily we were far enough away that it wasn't really even that close. But we were just like whaatt the heck man. Anyway, Männertag.... not my favorite day in Germany i'll say.
Yes. It was a very eventful week and kinda stressful to be honest because we have to time everything perfectly with trains and appointments and everything. But it all went well, and I'm super excited for Adam's baptism this Saturday. Part of the reason is also because a lot of our other friends that we are working want to come to the baptism and see how it works which is awesome.
Here are some pics from this week. :)
Some bike escapades and district pic :)
