Chapter 15-Leaving the Nest

Hallo Zusammen! As you can probably tell from the title, transfer calls have come and I am getting transferred to Werdau! It is a neighboring area to Jena, so I'm still in the same Zone (different district though). I am going to be working with Elder Chung! I have met him half a dozen times for various reasons and he was our Chinese translator while we were teaching Liu. He is super awesome and I am excited to be working with him. It's actually kinda funny, b/c Elder Chung's companion Elder Wilhelm is coming to Jena -- so we are basically just swapping spots haha. It's going to be a great transfer.

On other notes, this week was pretty fun. We had an exchange with the Erfurt Elders (all 4 of us in Erfurt) and it is awesome to help other areas and see the people they are working with and helping those people to grow. I got the chance to work with Elder Furniss for the exchange and we had an awesome appointment with one of their friends. He doesn't speak much German or English, so we used a Persian translator missionary. It was so interesting because we taught verrryyy simply so that our translator could translate easier. It was amazing to see how if you stick to very simply doctrine, how much they learn and accept it through the spirit. On a different note -- we went to this super good Syrian restaurant and they had "Schafkopf" which means sheep-head.... we were all too scared to try it so we just got normal lamb instead, which was still super good. After getting Syrian food we had a few appointments and then Elder Furniss and I got some Sushi. Then the next day we went early in the morning and traveled to a neighboring dorf to give blessing to two members. We then went to this crazy dOner place and the guy serving us was soooo funny. He was from Turkey -- so I spoke some turkish with him -- and he asked us "Was mochten Sie, ich habe Hanchen, Schwein, Calb, Hund, Katse -- einfach alles" --- =chicken, pig, calf, dog, cat -- haha, and then he just kept talking over us when we were trying to over and it so was funny. We got a picture with him at the end -- he also gave us HUGEE dOners, like so big it made me sick (especially eating Syrian food and sushi the day before....) But ya, definitly my favorite dOner laden in Germany so far :).

We didn't have the greatest week ever appointments wise, b/c 1. we were in Erfurt for 2 days, and 2. it is finals week in Jena and so no one can meet :( -- But our friends are doing well, and I can't wait to get all the updates from them in the future. But it'll be great for the Elders here once finals are over b/c we have lots of people that are interested just too busy at the moment. I am going to miss Jena a lot, and it was really hard to say goodbye to a lot of people. But i'm sure that my next areas will be awesome too.

Love you all!
-Elder Johnson
