Week 5

Why does grandpa call it the void ocean? Haha it seems kind of a funny term. The food is alright, it doesn't taste too bad most of the time. But I'm starting to see lots of repeats in the meals and stuff is getting old fast -- espeically breakfast.... it's literally eggs sausage and hashbrowns or biscuits and gravy every single morning..... So for general conference choir me and Elder MacKay didn't apply cause we didn't really have any choir experience, but Elder Mitchell applied ( with an albainian elder from my district named Elder Russ) Elder Mitchell and Russ sing together in the residence halls allll the time --- and they both got in which is awesome! No one really knows which session it is going to be though. They have to go practices everyday starting next week too. It will be a cool experience for them. I'm not really that salty or disappointed that I'm not going because it seems that most people chosen (they took surveys) were all in audition choirs in high school and stuff. I'm super excited about conference --- I've heard many rumors of big changes.

This week was great Turkish wise -- I finally had a lesson where I didn't have any turkish written down and I could just say what came to my mind and try and build off the things that the person we were teaching was saying. I am decently confident on saying the things that I want to say, but at times my grammar is still pretty broken. The hardest part right now is trying to figure out what their responses are when we ask them questions and trying to understand their needs and concerns. We just finished up the 3rd lesson with both people. so this week we are moving onto commandments like word of wisdom and things which will be fun. We have the missionary purpose memorized in Turkish and basically all of the first vision (just the pillar of light part), and I'm working on verses 3 & 4 of Moroni 10 (5 is done). D&C will probably be next maybe.

HA! Ya we have like no materials. We have chapter 3 (all the lessons) of PMG in Turkish, and then we have the book of mormon. We have the gospel pamphlet things that go along with each lesson, and thats about it. We use the pamphlets ALL the time in the lessons and they are very useful which is nice. So with german i think I should be fine. Our teacher said that once we get into the field there is a really good german dictionary and vocab app that we can get on our phones. But I'll let you know if I need anything (if I do it would probably be best to amazon prime it straight to germany when I get there so I don't have to take it on the plane or anything.
